METAL GASKET FOR CYLINDER HEAD

A laminated type metal gasket (1) for a cylinder head, comprising two sheets of substrates (2). Each of the substrates is formed of a sheet metal and comprises a cylinder hole (2a), an annular bead (2b) formed around the cylinder hole, a cooling water hole (2c) formed at the outer peripheral part of the annular bead, and an outer peripheral bead (2d) formed so as to generally surround the annular bead and the cooling water hole. The annular beads (2b) of the substrates (2) are arranged in the thickness direction of the gasket. The metal gasket is characterized in that a claw-like projection (3a) formed on either of an outer side step adjusting sheet (3) formed of a sheet metal and extending from the position of a cooling water jacket to the position of the outer peripheral edge of the substrates (2) and an inner side step adjusting sheet (4) formed of a sheet metal having a thickness larger than that of the outer side step adjusting sheet and extending from the inside position of the annular beads (2b) of the substrates (2) to the position of the cooing water jacket is inserted into an engagement hole (4a) formed in the other and the projected portion of the claw-like projection from the engagement hole is folded to connect these outer side step adjusting sheet (3) to the inner side step adjusting sheet (4) between two sheets of substrates (2). By the metal gasket, even a slight step can be set for properly keeping the balance of a surface pressure between the annular beads and the outer peripheral beads.
