Disclosed is an internal combustion engine (1) comprising at least two sets (6, 7) of cylinders (18, 20), at least one exhaust gas turbocharger (5), an intake system (2), an exhaust system (3) that is provided with one exhaust manifold for each set, and an exhaust gas recirculation system (4) that encompasses at least one exhaust gas recirculation conduit (142, 146) which branches off the exhaust system (3) upstream from the exhaust gas turbine (24) of the exhaust gas turbocharger (5). In order to control the counterpressure of the exhaust gas in front of the exhaust gas turbine (24) and/or the boost pressure generated by said exhaust gas turbine, a variable turbine geometry or a flow-redirecting valve (22) is provided inside the intake system (2). |
