<p>The barrier has an auxiliary radiation source to emit auxiliary radiation for detecting scattering objects in a monitoring area. Transmission optics directs the radiation along an auxiliary optical path. Auxiliary detector optics directs the radiation scattered by the object to an auxiliary detector (57) that detects the radiation. Measuring information of a main detector and the detector (57) are evaluated to detect the objects.</p>
