The vegetable oil combustion system has a combustion unit, a diesel or fuel oil tank (2), and a vegetable oil tank, with a heater located between the vegetable oil tank and the combustion unit. The heater (4) on the outlet side is in communication with the exhaust gas system (5) allocated to the combustion unit. The heater is installed next to the exhaust gas system or a part of it, and is connected to it in a thermally conducting manner. A heat exchanger (6) is provided between the heater and the exhaust gas system. An independent claim is included for a conversion kit for the conversion of conventional combustion systems into a vegetable oil combustion system.
