摘要 <p>1313859 Cokeing of catalysts and sorbents BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 29 Sept 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 53390/69 Heading C1A [Also in Division C5] In a process for the treatment of hydrocarbons by catalysis or sorption in which the catalyst or sorbent comprises a zeolite or a single refractory oxide of an element of Group II, III or IV of the Periodic Table and in which said catalyst or sorbent is free of active metal components the catalyst or sorbent is treated after exposure to a free oxygen containing gas and before its use or re-use in the process with an atmosphere of hydrogen at a temperature of at least 300‹ C. but below its degradation temperature. The hydrogen treatment is preferably carried out up to 650‹ C. in a flowing stream of hydrogen at 50 to 200 v/v/hr/‹ and at 1 to 200 p.s.i.a. for 0À5 to 10 hours. The hydrogen treatment may be given after regeneration of the catalyst or sorbent with an oxygen-containing gas. The process is particularly suitable for use in a separation process using a zeolite sorbent, e.g. the separation of n-paraffins from hydrocarbons mixtures using a zeolite of 5 Š pore size at an adsorption temperature of 50‹ to 450‹ C. and a pressure of 15 to 500 p.s.i.a. The zeolite sorbent is usually described in an isobaric and isothermal process with preferably a n-paraffin having fewer carbon atoms than the absorbed n-paraffins. The zeolite sorbent is usually desorbed in an isothermal process by pressure reduction to a pressure of from 5 to 0À5 p.s.i.a.</p>
