<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst satisfying both anti-clogging performance and excellent catalyst performance. <P>SOLUTION: (1) This exhaust gas purification catalyst 11 contains a catalyst-carrying part 12 and a catalyst carrier-less part 13, and has the length in a catalyst axis direction of the catalyst carrier-less part 13 changing according to the position orthogonal to a catalyst axis direction. (2) An interface 14 between the catalyst carrying part 12 and the catalyst carrier-less part 13 is inclined to a face orthogonal to the axial direction of a catalyst carrier. (3) The exhaust gas purification catalyst 11 is placed on an exhaust path 15 of an automobile using a fuel containing a metal additive such as Mn.
