<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent exhibiting effects on prevention, or the like, of infectious diseases, and safely usable for a human being. <P>SOLUTION: The germicidal agent is obtained by formulating an essential oil component of a tea tree and an essential oil component of a mint so as to exhibit the germicidal activities against the whole of enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Legionella. Preferably, the germicidal agent is obtained by adding a prescribed amount or more of an essential oil component of a lavender so as to exhibit or enhance the germicidal activities against the Legionella. More preferably, the germicidal agent contains formulation components devised so as to be effective for mildewproofing by the addition, or the like, of an essential oil component of a rosemary.
