PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which is driven in a wide range from a low luminance to high luminances, such as a light source use, etc., operates stably in a range of wide luminance and is excellent in lifetime characteristics. SOLUTION: The organic EL element includes at least one set of electrodes 2 and 5. A plurality of functional layers are configured between the electrodes 2 and 5. The functional layer contains a layer 4 made of at least one kind of polymer substance and having a light emitting function, and a charge injection layer 3 made of at least one kind of inorganic oxide.
