PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cylinder block for a closed-deck wet-liner type engine, at a low facility cost and in a simple process. SOLUTION: This method for producing the cylinder block is provided with; a first, in which a cylindrical cylinder liner 2 is penetratingly fit to an insert member 1 forming round type opening parts 1m, 1n at both ends of a hollow columnar member and a closed space 3a is formed at a gap between the inner surface of the insert member 1 and the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder liner 2 and also, a linear set 10 is constituted by sealing liquid 4 into the above closed space 3a; a second process, in which the above cylinder liner 2 is set in a core metal 21b in a mold 20 and also, the cylinder block body is cast by inserting the circumference of the liner-set 10 as cast-in; and a third process, in which a water jacket 3 is formed with the above closed space by working the inlet/outlet holes 1f, 1g for cooling water in the above insert member 1.
