A flameproof knit fabric which can impart high flameproofness to fabric-covered furniture such as mattresses and chairs or bedding such as pillows, mattress pads, and futons while fully keeping the texture and comfortableness peculiar to the materials (such as cotton and urethane foam) used in the furniture and bedding. An inner structure of a mattress is covered with a flameproof knit fabric composed of at least two kinds of fibers selected from the group consisting of halogenated fibers (A), cellulose fibers (B), flame-retardant cellulose fibers (C), and polyester fibers (D) which is characterized by having a basis weight of 140g/m<SUP>2</SUP> or above, a thickness of 0.5 mm or above, and a flame retardant content of 2% by weight or above based on the knit fabric.
