Bobbin handling. .F--. Preparation of filled bobbins for spinning or twisting frames for final processing on a winder. A tuft is produced at the pay-off end of the thread which is then lodged in the bobbin. Preparation is carried by the following methods, singly or in combination: (a) the bobbin incorporates a cavity, tuft formation includes compression of the latter and lodging into the cavity and opening out the tuft so that it is retained in its location; (b) the bobbin includes a thread extremity which is caught up, cut and the tuft formed; (c) to cut the thread end, the latter is first blocked and the thread cut between the bobbin and the blocked portion; (d) the bobbin is rotated to break the thread; (e) the excess length of the pay-off end is cut off prior to forming the tuft; (f) to form the tuft, the pay-off end is brought forward, bunched during advance, and compressed.
|
