PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device, of a separable pad method, capable of eliminating paper damage in insertion/removal of a paper feed cassette in simple constitution, whereas the paper feed cassette is inserted/removed perpendicularly to the paper feeding direction. SOLUTION: Under a flapper 11 of the paper feed cassette 8, a vertically oscillating action member 14 is installed for inducing vertical oscillation action of the flapper 11. At a bottom wall part 50a of a paper feed part 5, a resiliency member 16 is provided, and in inserting the paper feed cassette 8 to the paper feed part 5, the action member 15 is engaged with the resiliency member 16 against its resiliency. The forward end side of the flapper 11 is energized upward by upward motion by resiliency of the resiliency member 16. In drawing the paper feed cassette 8, engagement of the action member 15 with the resilient member 16 is released, and the forward end side of the flapper 11 is lowered by its weight with contained paper P.
