PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device, capable of favorably feeding such sheets of photogravure paper or the like that are easily attached to each other. SOLUTION: In this paper feeding device 3, paper is fed between a feed roller 4 rotation-driven in one direction and a friction plate 10 of which contact pressure to the feed roller is adjustable. Under the friction plate 10, an elastic member 29 to energize it toward the feed roller 4 is disposed, and a gap S is formed to let the friction plate 10 retract in a separating direction from the feed roller 4 against its elasticity. The friction plate 10 has a first plane part 31A and a second plane part 32A positioned on the downstream side of the first plane part in the paper feeding direction. The second plane part 32A is set to be lower than the first plane part 31A. An inclined surface part 31B is formed between the first plane part 31A and the second plane part 32A to connect them to each other.
