The safety catch has a rotatable forked element (12) to receive a bolt (13). A pressure member (19) is pretensioned against one of several detent faces (17) of the forked element to hold same in a position corresponding to the detent face. A first position of the forked element corresponds to the door wing lying in the frame whilst a second position corresponds to the wing removed from the frame. the bolt can be displaceable eccentrically. The forked element can be connected to a locking element which engages in a drive bolt.
