PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mail distribution method which notifies users beforehand or after if a scheduled distribution date is different from an actual one, and inquires users a dealing method beforehand if distribution is scheduled to be performed on a maintenance date to reduce their unpleasant feelings, and its apparatus. SOLUTION: In a service which distributes e-mail on a date and to an address specified by a distribution requester, if a distribution service cannot be performed on an appointed date due to a reason that a maintenance date on which maintenance operations for a distribution system to provide services are performed is the same as the appointed date, e-mail included with information that distribution cannot be performed and the appointed data is necessary to be changed is transmitted before the appointed date. If distribution is requested after an appointed date, e-mail included with information that distribution could not be performed is distributed with the requested e-mail. If distribution cannot be performed on an appointed date, distribution is performed before the appointed date with information that the requested e-mail cannot be distributed on the appointed date.
