PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fiberised tissue by decreasing the amount of expression of a type I collagen gene in the tissue to reduce the accumulated amount of the collagen, also inhibit the activity of TGF-βand provide especially a hair tonic and a treating agent of chronic renal failure. SOLUTION: This cinnamoyl compound is expressed by general formula (I) [wherein, A is benzene ring or pyridine ring; Xα, Yαare each -OCH<SB>2</SB>COOH, -OCH<SB>2</SB>CONMe<SB>2</SB>, -OCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>OH, -OCH<SB>2</SB>CN, -NHCOCH<SB>2</SB>OH, -NHCOCH<SB>2</SB>OMe, -CONHCH<SB>2</SB>COOMe, -CONHCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>OMe or the like; Qαis OH, ONa, OMe, piperizinyl or morphonyl; Tαis H or Me; and Lαis Me, or a quinolone ring is formed by bonding the Kαand Lαwith an alkenylene], and a medicinal composition containing the same is also provided.
