The device for the making of bundles of tobacco leaves (3,3') comprises a tray (4) on which the tobacco leaves are stacked. Rollers (5) located upstream of the tray ensure a supply of leaves to the tray. There are compacting means (21) for the leaves stacked on the tray in order to make a bundle. A retractable hatch evacuates the bundle from the plate.
