<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fan motor abnormality detector capable of detecting abnormality of a fan motor with simple constitution, and an image forming apparatus using the fan motor abnormality detector. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing heater 63 for heating a fixing roller 62 is installed in a casing 61 constituting an outside surface of a fixing device 60. When the fixing heater 63 is powered ON, a heating wire 63a of the fixing heater 63 generates heat to emit light, which is emitted out of the fixing heater 63. The light exiting from the fixing heater 63 passes through a light collection hole 61a formed on the casing 61 to be projected to outside the fixing device 60 and when a gap of adjacent blades 72 of the fan motor 70 is positioned on the optical path connecting the fixing heater 63 and a photosensor 82, the light passes through the fan motor 70 to be incident on the photosensor 82. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
