PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin composition having a few oligomer content, excellent in color tone and having viscosity suitable for extrusion in a general-purpose manner and to provide a method for producing the resin composition and to provide a polyester film. SOLUTION: The polyester resin composition has 0.1-0.7 wt.% cyclic trimer content, 15-40 equivalent/ton carboxy terminal group amount and 0.55-0.80 intrinsic viscosity and 0.22-0.36 absorbance in 365 nm wavelength in a solution (0.8g/10 mL) using ortho chlorophenol as a solvent.
