PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control method of a continuous heating furnace capable of controlling the combustion so that the heating furnace extraction temperature reaches a target value by correctly grasping the slab temperature in the furnace. SOLUTION: The temperature distribution of the in-furnace atmosphere of a heating zone is obtained by a plurality of thermometers provided in the heating zone, the atmosphere temperature in the division zone in which a slab is located is estimated from the in-furnace atmosphere temperature distribution, and the slab temperature is calculated from the atmosphere temperature in the division zone, or the atmosphere temperature in the division zone in which the slab is located is obtained by the thermometer provided in each division zone in the heating zone. The atmosphere temperature in the division zone is combustion-controlled so that the heating furnace extraction temperature reaches the target value from the result of the calculation, and the combustion control is similarly repeated when the slab is carried in the next division zone.
