PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium wherein low transition noise is realized while cohesion of magnetic particles is prevented and which has high productivity and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium having magnetic areas and a non-magnetic area has at least two magnetic areas containing a CuAu type or Cu<SB>3</SB>Au type ferromagnetic regular alloy and a matrix agent. The respective magnetic areas are physically independently formed. The manufacturing method of the magnetic recording medium includes a magnetic area forming step for forming the magnetic areas containing the CuAu type or Cu<SB>3</SB>Au type ferromagnetic regular alloy and the matrix agent using a mask formed by using a photopolymer.
