NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of alleviating stress generated by a volume change of an active material resulting from charge and discharge to prevent the deformation of the negative electrode.

SOLUTION: This negative electrode 10 for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is formed with an active material layer 2 containing particles 2a of the active material. In the active material layer 2, a metal material 4 deposited by electrolysis plating has permeated among particles. The negative electrode 10 has many longitudinal holes 5 formed at least at its one side and extended in the thickness direction of the active material layer 2. It has also a pair of current collecting layers 3a, 3b contacting an electrolyte, and the active material layer 2 is interposed between the current collecting layers 3a, 3b.
