A pyramid roll bending machine for curving sheet metal comprises two end frames 1, 2, an upper bending roll 8, upper backing rolls 6, 7, an adjustable upper yoke 4, carrying the said upper bending and backing rolls, two bottom rolls 10, 11 supported by backing rolls 14, 15 carried in pillow blocks 13 mounted in a bottom yoke 12 which is adjustable transversely of the longitudinal axes of said upper roll. The two fixed end frames 1, 2 extend downwardly to below the floor level 3. The vertically adjustable upper yoke 4 carries four upper pillow blocks 5 each mounting the two upper backing rolls 6, 7 (Fig. 2) for the upper bending roll 8. The bottom yoke is slidably mounted normal to the longitudinal axes of the rolls on a slide bar 19 and adjustment can be made by traversing screw and nut gearing 20, 21 situated in each end frame. The lower rolls are driven by motors 30, 34 through reduction gearing and belt transmission. |
