PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of selecting a desired menu item, through simple operation, without increasing the imaging apparatus scale. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an operating member which classifies a plurality of menu items into a plurality of groups in accordance with their characters, arranges the menu items sequentially for each classification, displays them on a display means and is capable of selecting one item out of a menu displayed on the display means; a time measuring means for measuring how long the operating member is pressed; and a comparing means for comparing a preset predetermined value with the time measured by the time measuring means. If the output of the comparing means is less than the predetermined value, a plurality of setting items are switched one by one and if the output is the predetermined value or more, a predetermined setting item is selected out of the menu.
