PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light distribution control device which can control the direction of light irradiated from a diffusion light source and can give directivity, and has an excellent utilization efficiency of light with a simple structure and a surface light source device using it. SOLUTION: The device has a pillar member 1 of a transparent acrylic resin having a hollow part extending in the axis direction and a fluorescent tube 2 arranged in the hollow part of this pillar member 1 so as to extend in the axis direction, and the outline shape of cross-section of the hollow part is triangular.
