PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine capable of reserved transmission even if an externally equipped telephone set connected to the facsimile machine is in an off-hook status. SOLUTION: The user of a composite machine 1 previously operates a display unit 43 to set any one of a reserved transmission mode and a manually transmission mode on a port to which first and second externally equipped telephone sets 8a and 8b are connected, and causes a mode storage unit 740 to store the set mode. When the numeric key 41 of the composite machine 1 is depressed to perform facsimile transmission, a control unit 10 inquires hook determining units 730a, 730b to inspect the hook statuses of the telephone sets 8a, 8b. As a result, if it is determined that any one of the telephone sets 8a and 8b is in an off-hook status and a start key 42 is depressed, facsimile transmission is performed in a mode set in the port to which the externally equipped telephone set is connected in an off-hook status.
