1,150,809. Retreading tyres. BANDAG Inc. 10 April, 1967 [26 Jan., 1967], No. 16378/67. Heading B7C. A method of retreading a tyre carcass comprises interposing a preformed strip of bonding material, which contains both a vulcanizing agent and an accelerator which have not reacted together, between a pre-vulcanized tread strip and the carcass, and thereafter vulcanizing the assembly at a temperature less than 300‹ F. The assembly is enclosed in a flexible hood 24, e.g. of plastics or rubber, mounted on a rim 32; and placed in an autoclave with pipes to connect outlet 30 to atmosphere and inlet 36 to a source of fluid. The chamber is pressurized, e.g. to 85 p.s.i., and the interior of the tyre is pressurized, e.g. to 115 p.s.i. The chamber is then heated to between 140‹ F. and 300‹ F.
|
