PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small optical connector that has a reduced number of components, a simple structure, and superior cost effectiveness and that can be highly densely mounted on a substrate or the like. SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 is equipped with an optical connector plug 5 and an optical connector adaptor 2, wherein the optical connector plug 5 is provided with an energizing means 60 that presses ferrules 51 holding an optical fiber in an abutting direction, and wherein the optical connector adaptor 2 is provided with a housing sleeve 3 that holds the optical connector plug 5 with elasticity. The optical connector is characterized in that the holding force of the housing sleeve 3 holding the optical connector plug 5 is made larger than the pressurizing force produced by the energizing means 60 when the ferrules 51, 51 are abutted on each other.
