<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video processing device and a method thereof capable of selecting a field which a field can be selected to be used in interpolation, if an input video image is a film video image. <P>SOLUTION: The video processing device is provided with a field selector unit for selecting a field to be used in interpolation on the basis of different values in field information among first, second, and third fields; a film detecting unit for generating a predetermined pattern, and using the generated predetermined pattern to determine whether the input video image is a film video image; and an interpolator unit for interpolating the second field using the field selected in the field selecting unit if the input video image is a film video image. With this configuration, when the input video image is a video film image without a bad-edit, the interpolation process is executed by using the field with a smaller different values in field information from among the field to be interpolated and a temporally consecutive field, thereby enabling solving the generation of judder in video images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
