<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology regarding a network system in which a terminal properly selects a starting point address according to an end point address. <P>SOLUTION: In the network system 14, each of a plurality of upstream networks 11, 12 assigns an address or an address block to a downstream network 13. Address assignment servers 1', 2' belonging to the plurality of upstream networks 11, 12 respectively, notify the downstream network 13 of starting point address selection information which is information for the terminal 5 to select a proper starting address. A router (gateway equipment 3) belonging to the downstream network 13 and connected to the plurality of upstream networks 11, 12 relays the notified starting address selection information to the terminal 5 belonging to the downstream network 13.
