A method for treating fluid media consisting of gases and/or liquids and/or solids consists of mixing and/or cooling and/or heating and/or effecting chemical reactions or extruding etc. during the propulsion or pumping of the fluid through tubular units of different cross-sections; these units are arranged in series with alternatingly different cross-sections, thus providing varying contact areas for the medium; some of the tubular units include internal members, producing annular or frame-shaped cross-sections which may be circular, square, triangular, polygonal etc. Specif. tubular membrane chambers, situated in the pipe or annular or other sections of the units are hydraulically actuated in a cycle, so as to produce the desired pumping and/or mixing effect. The system is especially suitable for treating highly viscous fluids and those containing abrasive materials. |
