PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To tighten the information security of a device for performing communication. SOLUTION: A device B having received a packet 1 comprising a random number RanA and a list of accessing objects, performs accessing object check processing based on the list of accessing objects, and judges whether or not the combination of data to be accessed coincides with preset combination setting information. When the combination is judged to coincide with the combination setting information, the device B encrypts predetermined information using a key described in a definition block caused to correspond to an area, or data described in the list of accessing objects, and performs common key formation processing for forming a common key for mutual authentication of a device A and the device B. The device B encrypts the random number RanA with the common key, generates authenticating data 1, and transmits the data to the device A along with a random number RanB. The device A performs authentication of the device B by decoding the authenticating data 1 with the common key. This method can be applied to non-contact type IC cards. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
