A toy musical instrument comprises a plurality of mutually parallel guides 3 arranged axially on a roller 1, and reference lines, not shown, marked on the roller surface, with striker tabs 2 located at the intersection of the reference lines and the guides. The striker tabs 2 cause the sounding of metallic strips, either by striking them directly when the roller is rotated, or by striking the rear portions 30 of pivoted hammers 33, which causes the hammers to strike the metallic strips 33. The striker tab 2 may be pivoted on the guide 3 to allow one of its edges to engage the hammer 33 when the roller is rotated in the correct way, and, in event of opposite, incorrect rotation, the other side of the striker tab engages the hammer which causes the striker tab to turn about the guide 3 to an inoperative position. The striker tab may subsequently be reinstated to its operative position manually. The roller may be rotated by a mechanical handle or by an electric motor, so that the roller moves more slowly than the driving means. This may be achieved by gears or by means of an endless belt or chain operating on pulleys, or sprockets, respectively.</p> |
