PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple roundness measurement device and roundness measurement method which enable the automatic measurement of the roundness of an arbitrary part of a work provided with a round section. SOLUTION: The roundness measurement device 10 for measuring the roundness of the object W which is moving in an axial direction H while turning characteristically comprises: a transfer means 12 for transferring the object W while turning; a measurement means 14 for measuring the roundness of the object W; a attaching/detaching means 16 for putting/taking the measurement means 14 on/off the object W; and a control means 18 for controlling the actions of the transfer means 12, the measurement means 14 and the attaching/detaching means 16.
