PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a treatment for efficiently oxidizing aluminum metal waste generated in atomic energy-related facilities. SOLUTION: In a method for oxidizing aluminum-based atomic energy waste, solid aluminum or a solid aluminum alloy generated in facilities related to atomic energy is charged into a furnace for heating and melting, further the molten metal is held at a high temperature of 900°C or higher under an oxidizing atmosphere, the aluminum or the aluminum alloy is oxidized and converted to an oxide aggregate, then the aggregate is ground mechanically, and the powder is baked at a high temperature of 900°C or higher under the oxidizing atmosphere.
