<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake having simple and easy construction with no complicated intermediate mechanism for effectively converting electric energy to brake the rotation of a disc. <P>SOLUTION: The disc brake 10 comprises a pair of brake pads 13, 14 arranged on both sides of the disc 12 for contacting the disc 12 to generate braking force. A coil 31 is provided on a caliper 19 which has opposed portions arranged on both sides of the pair of brake pads 13, 14 beyond the radial outside of the disc 12. Attracting force is generated between each of the brake pads 13, 14 and the disc 12 with magnetic force given by the coil 31, to brake the rotation of the disc 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
