PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel strip meandering correcting method which is applicable even in an open space in a continuous steel strip passing line, solves a problem of uneven touch, and is excellent in responsiveness and inexpensive. SOLUTION: In the meandering correcting device 12, a sensor 7 detects the amount and the direction of the deviation, and transmits positional information to a controller 5 as the signal. The controller 5 receives the signal, and transmits the control signal to a DC power supply 6 so as to cause the required current flow into an electromagnet 4b on the right-hand side of the figure with the center position in the barrel direction of a roll 2 as a target value. The electromagnet 4b where the required current is supplied from the DC power supply 6 attracts only an edge part 1b of the steel strip 1 on the right-hand side of the figure to the side of the roll 2, and tightly attaches it to a tapered part 2b to move the position of the steel strip toward the left (i.e., edge 1a side) toward the figure by the bobbin winding principle.
