The braking device brakes the rotor of a wind power plant. It has at least one hydraulic brake cylinder (8, 10, 12, 14) with pressure cavity (18) and piston (16). It can be connected to a tank (T) to ventilate the brake. There is a 3/2-path seat valve (40), via which the pressure cavity can be connected to the hydraulic fluid supply (30, 34) or to the tank.
