A method for transporting workpieces in a multiple press system has independent transfer slides, supported between horizontal guides and with alignment controls. The transfer system is controlled electronically with the separate drives linked to ensure a rapid process cycle and with a minimum of inertial mass. The vertical movement is generated by swing levers while the horizontal movements are powered by drive belts.
