The system has a computer unit with an input unit to input planning parameters for a planning area, which is provided by a factory building, a process carried out on a product and a product. The computer unit evaluates the parameters based on an objective function by determining a dimensionless evaluation parameter. An output unit of the computer unit displays the evaluation parameter based on a relative or absolute evaluation scale. An independent claim is also included for a method to plan a factory layout for a factory building, in which a production line is provided.
