<p>In an elevator apparatus, an elevator car and a counterweight are lifted and lowered in an elevator shaft by drive force of first and second drive devices. The first and second drive devices are individually arranged at the upper part of the elevator shaft such that rotation shafts of first and second drive sheaves of the drive devices are vertical to a horizontal plane. The car and the counterweight are suspended by a main rope body having a first main rope passed over the first drive sheave and a second main rope passed over the second drive sheave. The first main rope has first and second end sections connected to the upper part of the elevator shaft, and the second main rope has third and fourth end sections connected to the upper part of the elevator shaft. On the car are arranged first and second car suspension sheaves over which the first and second main ropes are passed respectively. On the counterweight are arranged first and second counterweight sheaves over which the first and second main ropes are passed respectively.</p> |
