PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens unit and a lens holder capable of suppressing displacement of focusing due to thermal expansion. SOLUTION: In a rear projector apparatus 1, having an image generator 50 which generates projection light 8 and the lens unit 5 for projecting the projection light 8 on a screen 9, the lens unit 5 is held at a position located at a distance from the image generator 50 by a columnar support 60. The displacement on the screen side with little temperature rise is suppressed, and misalignment of focusing is prevented by supporting the lens unit 5 at a position at a distance from the image generator 50 which is also a heat source.
