PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-optical axis photoelectric sensor for easily and efficiently preventing erroneous detection of an object due to disturbance light by adjusting a light projection/reception period according to a state in which mutual interference is found. SOLUTION: In this sensor, it is determined that a range in which a mutual interference occurs, i.e. a place in which a disturbance light is detected is in a first half period or a second half period in the entire period of the light projection/reception operation period, thereby deciding to shift a phase forward or backward. Then, the position of an optical axis in which the disturbance light reception is confirmed, the period corresponding to the number of optical axes in which the reception is continuously confirmed and a next planned synchronous timing are changed.
