Production of a stiffening structure in plastics components involves providing regions of the plastics part with otherwise flat stiffening structural elements having a rear section with edges or projections, such that bending force applied to the plastics component is converted by the stiffening structure into shear/compressive force. An independent claim is included for a plastics component (10) having at least one stiffening structure with punched holes (14) and edges or projections (16), produced by the above process.
