The component has a luminescence conversion unit (4) converting a part of radiation coming from a LED chip into radiation of a wavelength area. A filter unit reflects back the part of the radiation into the unit (4). The source has a three-dimensional photonic crystal (51), which is impermeable for radiation of another wavelength area which is undesired for the emission and is permeable for radiation of the former wavelength area. An independent claim is also included for a process for producing an electromagnetic radiation emitting component.
