INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE FOR SMALL PLANING BOAT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for a small planing boat capable of preventing the dilution of a lubricating oil from occurring by controlling the use of an oil cooler to avoid the overcooling of the lubricating oil in cold time. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine for the small planing boat driving a jet propulsion pump is mounted in the body of a ship surrounded by a hull and a deck, and the oil cooler cooling the lubricating oil in the small planing boat on which crews go board is mounted on the deck. The internal combustion engine comprises a bypass oil passage 106 allowing the upstream side oil passage 113 of the oil cooler 100 to communicate with the downstream side oil passage 107 and bypassing the oil cooler 100 and an oil thermostat 105 installed in the upstream side oil passage 113 and switching the flow of the lubricating oil by selectively opening the oil cooler 100 side and the bypass oil passage 106 side thereof. The oil thermostat 105 opens on the bypass oil passage 106 side when the temperature of the lubricating oil is less than a prescribed temperature and opens on the oil cooler 100 side when the temperature of the lubricating oil is equal to or more than the prescribed temperature.
