The yarn is fed into the bobbin through a traveller mounted by the shroud to hold the yarn away from the machinery. The purpose of the shroud is to keep the broken yarn end, on breakage, within the shrouded zone, and to prevent it from coming into contact with the machinery and lubricated surfaces, and from picking up oil and dirt which would be carried to the bobbin when the yarn is repaired and rewound.
