The invention relates to exertion of an external pressure to a human body part (100). A proposed device includes a number of segments (S1, S2) adapted to at least partially enclose the body part (100) in a form-fitting manner. Each segment (S1, S2) contains a controllable active-material based actuator, which is adapted to cause the segment (S1, S2) to apply a basic pressure profile (P1; P2) to the body part (100) in response to a control signal. A pressure transition system (PTS) is adapted to redistribute the basic pressure profile (P1) of at least one of the segments (S1, S2), such that in response to a control signal in respect of this segment (S1) an adjusted pressure profile (P1 adj ) different from the basic pressure profile (P1) is applied to the body part.
