PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arouse many person's interest in the scenery of some specific place by enabling comparison of the present landscape image and the time slipped landscape image, at an arbitrary time in the past. SOLUTION: The time slip motion picture display system comprises a camera 10 for photographing some specific place continuously, and a large number of motion picture display units 14<SB>1</SB>, 14<SB>2</SB>, 14<SB>3</SB>, ... connected with the camera through a signal cable 12. Each motion picture display unit 14<SB>1</SB>, 14<SB>2</SB>, 14<SB>3</SB>, ... receives a motion picture photographed by the camera 10 and stores it, while compressing it in a compressed motion picture storage section, reads out the compressed motion picture at an arbitrary time point in the past from the compressed motion picture storage section, in response to an instruction from an instruction input section, and restores the compressed motion picture thus simultaneously displaying the motion picture at an arbitrary time point in the past and the present motion picture on a display.
