PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can obtain a high quality, while preventing its size from becoming large, and to provide an image forming method and a gloss processing unit. SOLUTION: In a paper path 40 located downstream of a fixing unit 24 in the transfer direction, a paper eject tray 44 is provided with a branch 45 at the front of the paper eject tray 44 and a transfer path 46 to transfer from this branch 45 to the gloss processing unit 64. A pre-heater 63 is provided in front of the gloss processing unit 64. Namely, the paper from the fixing unit 24 is pre-heated by the pre-heater 63, before it is transferred to the gloss processing unit 64.
